Sales Development Manager

SF Bay Area - San Francisco Full Time

Lilt builds intelligent software to augment translation for businesses and translators. We combine artificial intelligence with human power to optimize speed, quality and cost. Lilt is based on the belief that the future is richer and more exciting if people can communicate and access information in their own languages. Today, most of the world’s knowledge is encoded in English, and human translation is slow and expensive. Lilt’s human-in-the-loop technology improves translation speed by up to 3x and reduces costs by 50% or more. Lilt is based on machine translation and translator productivity research at Stanford University and Google. Co-founders John DeNero and Spence Green met while working on Google Translate in 2011. They shared an interest in human-in-the-loop translation systems that can make high-quality translation more efficient. They believed that better machine assistance could make translation more enjoyable for translators and more available for those who seek information. By 2014, a research prototype of an interactive, machine-assisted translation system had been built and Lilt was started in early 2015 to bring the technology to modern businesses and translators. We're based in San Francisco with a growing office in Berlin, and are backed by Sequoia, Redpoint, Zetta, and XSeed Capital.

Job Description

We are building out our global Sales Development team at Lilt, and we’re looking for a strategic leader to develop and maintain a high performing culture for this team. Reporting to the Director of Sales, you’ll be an integral part of our Sales leadership and provide continuous and constructive coaching for our SDRs. You’ll also spearhead recruiting and onboarding efforts as needed.

• Develop the vision and strategy for the team and manage day-to-day operations • Analyze and report on key metrics and forecasts to senior management • Inspire, motivate and enable personal and career development of a world-class team • Identify, interview and hire sales talent and continually raise the bar with each new hire • Run onboarding and continuous training for the SDRs to help them exceed their respective monthly, quarterly, and annual targets • Work cross-functionally with Sales Management, Sales Operations, Marketing, Services and Customer Success to drive departmental alignment • Assess and improve process and team performance to build a repeatable forecasting model - Become an expert in the localization/translation space • Design team and individual key performance metrics to evaluate SDR effectiveness • Develop dashboards to help SDRs optimize productivity and performance • Monitor latest sales productivity, prospecting and predictive trends within the industry; make recommendations for tool and process improvements • Help create a fun, high energy environment where people love coming to work by maintaining a high level of enthusiasm and motivation


• 2+ years leading and managing a high-performing sales or business development team • 4+ years sales experience; inside or outside quota-carrying sales role, with consistent performance at or above quota and within top 20% of your peer group • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable speaking to C-suite executives and large groups • Proficiency with selling tools: Salesforce, Outreach/Salesloft • Deep understanding of quality outbound pipeline generation • Consistent track record of quota overachievement as an individual contributor • Continuous learner, self-starter, sense of humor, and proven ability to engage and energize others • Comfortable with defining goals, success factors, and key metrics for programs, and delivering against them • Demonstrated ability to be an inspirational leader, including building and maintaining strong team culture and morale • Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment
