Job Description

  • Muck Rack is the leading software platform for public relations and communications executives. Our mission is to make journalists, PR pros and marketers more successful by providing them with the technology they need to find journalists to pitch, and monitor their brand on a day-to-day basis.
  • As Muck Rack’s Sales Director you will oversee the company’s small business and mid-market teams. You will report to the company’s Chief Operating Officer and will be responsible for managing a team of new business reps. In this leadership role, a first for Muck Rack, you will have the opportunity to hire new reps to fill a team of 15.
  • You will work with customers based in the United States and around the world to continue to bring on forward-thinking public relations teams to Muck Rack’s platform. Current customers in the small business and mid-market space include Casper, Gogo Wireless, Cannes Lions, Zapier, SXSW, Sofar Sounds and more. Your ability and proven track-record to build a great team and help them thrive will be a key element to the company’s overall future success.

Responsibilities

  • Manage current team of 10 reps and successfully grow team to at least 15
  • Overseeing SMB and mid-market sales team that sells into companies with up to 1,000 employees
  • Tracking pipeline and maintain reports in Hubspot (our sales CRM)
  • Coaching and leading one on ones with the team members
  • Supporting the team members in hitting their quarterly sales goals
  • Working closely with operations to evolve and improve processes as the team grows
  • Hiring and onboarding new reps
  • Using Gong and Hubspot to track progress of the team
  • Filling in on sales calls and/or meetings for team members when needed
  • Pushing opportunities forward that need help from management
  • Leading sales meetings and workshops
  • Guiding reps through any procurement and legal processes

Requirements

  • Proven track record in sales, with a minimum of 3 years of experience as an individual contributor
  • At least 2 years experience managing a sales team selling yearly SaaS subscriptions with similar company employee size (0-999)
  • Managed at least 5 people
  • Has used Hubspot Sales CRM, Salesforce, Pipedrive, SugarCRM, Zoho, Dynamics or Copper.
  • Has successfully hired and trained reps before
  • Minimum of 3 years direct sales experience
  • Running CRM reports
  • Skills leading and presenting at meetings
  • Excellent understanding of B2B SaaS sales fundamentals / strong foundational sales skills
  • Time management skills

  • Data-driven / strong analytical skills
  • Ability to observe, evaluate, and give meaningful feedback
