Roomer is the marketplace for travel, connecting travelers who are stuck with a nonrefundable hotel room with those looking for a last minute, discounted accommodation. Using an automated validation system to authenticate each and every reservation on its marketplace, Roomer works vigilantly to ensure safety and security for all of its users, buyers and sellers alike. Since its founding in 2011, Roomer has come to the rescue of distressed travelers all over the world who were stuck with nonrefundable hotel reservations and used Roomer's secure platform to sell these reservations to spontaneous, deal-seeking travelers.

Roomer's unique marketplace serves more than just its individual users. Roomer also works with hotels and travel companies around the world to both expand their customer bases and to solve critical customer service problems relating to canceling guests with nonrefundable reservations.


Job Description

The Business Development Manager is responsible for maximizing revenue/profit and developing strong partner relationships in North America. The Business Development Manager will be an integral part of the Global Business Development Team. Builds market position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships with hotel partners, OTAs, corporate companies and other travel companies on Roomer offerings.


Responsibilities

  • Identifies trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements; tracking individual contributors and their accomplishments.
  • Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discovering and exploring opportunities.
  • Screens potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities; recommending equity investments
  • Develops negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new venture with company strategies and operations; examining risks and potentials; estimating partners' needs and goals
  • Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in a relevant sales or business development function;
  • Closing Skills, Motivation for Sales, Prospecting Skills, Sales Planning, Selling to Customer Needs, Territory Management, Market Knowledge, Presentation Skills, Energy Level, Meeting Sales Goals, Professionalism
  • Affinity/experience within-travel and/or hotel/travel industry – Must
  • In depth knowledge of the online travel industry
  • Strong customer experience focus and proactive attitude
  • Ability to deliver engaging presentations to various audiences
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with all levels of management
  • Ability to read and interpret multiple data sources in order to define short/medium/long term goals
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload in line with business needs
  • Ability to deliver engaging presentations to various audiences
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a multi-tasked, fast paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, plus a thorough knowledge of Internet technologies
  • Fluent English speaker and writer

  • Professional, "get it done" attitude and work ethic
  • BA Degree or similar
