Job Description

You are either an experienced sales leader, or a truly exceptional salesperson hungry for your first management role. Either way, if you learned your trade in the trenches of a best-in-class sales organization, and you thrive on rigorous process and metrics, we want to talk to you.

Responsibilities

This is a unique opportunity to build a leading sales organization from scratch, while also already having a robust pipeline and customer base to work with.

The Sales Manager will: Oversee all sales (new opportunities and renewals, current and planned products); Lead, mentor, and grow our great existing sales team; Create and own Fluent City’s sales strategy for exponential growth; Build a best-in-class data-driven sales organization (tools, processes, strategies, metrics); Collaborate closely with the CEO and Head of Marketing to build a customer acquisition machine.

Requirements

You:

  • Are, first and foremost, an exceptional salesperson with a proven track record of top performance in rigorous, high-growth sales organizations

  • Are a great sales leader… You ideally have 2-4 years of experience as a successful sales manager and/or director. You have grown your team in an aggressive but controlled manner while exceeding sales targets;

  • ... Or you are ready to become one. Alternatively, we will consider candidates who are the #1 sales rep in their current company and ready to tackle the challenge of building and leading a team. We’d want to see evidence that you’re a fast learner, entrepreneurial, empathetic, and a systems-thinker;

  • Sell to people. You are great at selling to consumers and businesses: building the pipeline, driving the funnel, closing.

  • Love - and use - metrics and process. You don’t just pay lip service to KPIs.

  • You don’t just “usually” use your CRM. You know that the best sales organizations are built on consistent, metric’d processes, and you take pride in implementing (and sticking with) best practices and leading tools.

  • Hustle. You proudly identify as “scrappy.” You had a terrible sales job at some point in your career that strengthened your natural persistence and is now a source of pride. You are excited by the prospect of joining a small, lean team, and have a demonstrated history of balancing strategic leadership with producing in the trenches;

  • Build great teams. You hire top talent, bring out the best in them through continuous support and coaching, and are zealous about creating a great work environment;

  • Are constantly learning. You are passionate about perfecting your craft. You are not intimidated or threatened by learning something new; on the contrary, you relish it and actively stretch yourself;

  • Share our values. We are fun, international team that puts mutual respect, empathy, and trust at the center of our culture. We are deeply committed to feedback, continuous improvement, and professional development. We are reliable, deliver on our commitments, accountable for our failures, and rigorous in our analysis. Our integrity is unquestionable. We are clear-eyed and honest: if we ask you to share a negative professional reference, you appreciate the opportunity to talk about mistakes, learnings, and strengths and weaknesses.

  • Share our passion and vision. We are passionate about enriching lives through education, connecting with other people and cultures, and creating amazing real-world experiences.
